Desktop app for Windows and macOS

One app for the whole shoot

Everything your production needs

FilmBase replaces the pile of apps and spreadsheets a small crew juggles. Pay for the time you use, not a monthly plan, and every plan has the full feature set.

Script & breakdown

Write or import a script, then tag every prop, cast member and location.

Scheduling

A stripboard, a scene allocator, and a one-click schedule optimizer.

Budget & actuals

Cost it line by line or pull costs straight from your schedule, then track spend.

Storyboards & shotlists

Plan every shot, with the framing sketched for you when you have no art.

Call sheets & sides

Auto-filled PDFs with custom cells, plus the day's sides generated for you.

Cast & crew

Contacts, departments, rate cards and vendors, all in one database.

Locations

Track your real-world locations and what each one costs the budget.

Drivers & transport

Plan the day's runs, drivers and pickups without a spreadsheet.

Offline & private

Runs on your own machine. No cloud account required to use it.

A closer look

Built to save you a day a week

Easy enough to pick up on day one, deep enough for a line producer who wants every number under control.

A budget that stays in sync with your schedule

A budget that stays in sync with your schedule

This is the part that saves the most time. Tag an element in the breakdown and import it straight into the budget. Add a cast member and FilmBase prices them from their Day out of Days, charging work, hold and travel days each at their own rate. Move a day on the schedule and the cost updates on its own. Build it with starting templates, a tree or drilldown view, fringes, global variables and formulas. Easy to start, with the fine control a line producer expects.

Know what is left, line by line

As the money goes out, log each expense against the line it belongs to and attach the invoice and proof of payment right there, so the paperwork lives with the number. At any point in the shoot you can see what you have spent on a line and how much is left, so an overspend is obvious the moment it happens instead of at the wrap.

Call sheets that fill themselves in, and sides to match

Call sheets that fill themselves in, and sides to match

A call sheet is usually a night spent retyping the same details into a spreadsheet. FilmBase fills it from the project instead: the day's scenes, cast, locations, weather and contacts. Add your own custom cells where you need them, and generate the day's sides from the same screen, instead of cutting and pasting pages out of a screenwriting app by hand.

Your whole crew, and you decide who sees what

Put the team on one project. Over your local network everyone works together in real time and nothing is stored on a server, which is what you want on a closed set. People in different places? Put them on one virtual network with an overlay like ZeroTier and it works the same. Either way you set what each person can open, so the 1st AD gets the schedule and the intern never sees the budget.

A schedule that plans itself

A schedule that plans itself

Drag scenes onto the stripboard, or hit Optimize and let FilmBase arrange the whole shoot around the things that actually cost money: company moves and cast hold days. No more juggling strips by hand. Do not like the result? One press of Ctrl+Z puts the board back.
